Field Manager

The BESS Field Service Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing energy storage systems across multiple locations. Reporting to the Operations Manager, this role ensures system reliability, performance, and compliance with safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintenance & Inspections: Conduct routine maintenance, inspections, and troubleshooting to ensure system efficiency.

  • System Upgrades: Perform software and firmware updates to enhance reliability.

  • Performance Monitoring: Analyze system data to identify and resolve potential issues.

  • Customer Support: Provide remote diagnostic support and on-site troubleshooting to minimize downtime.

  • Inventory & Compliance: Manage spare parts and ensure adherence to safety regulations.

  • Collaboration & Reporting: Work with engineering teams to improve products and maintain detailed service records.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Degree/certification in Electrical or Electro-Mechanical Engineering.

  • Experience in electrical or multi-skilled maintenance.

  • Basic IT proficiency (Word, Outlook, Excel, IP configurations).

  • On-site safety certification.

  • Willingness to travel, including overnight or international assignments.

Preferred:

  • Experience with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).

  • Knowledge of power electronics (inverters, transformers, etc.).

  • HVAC training (F-Gas certification).

  • Strong IT skills (networking, MODBUS/TCP, remote desktop).

  • Certifications: C&G2391-5, BS7671, or equivalent.

  • High voltage authorization.

System Engineer

We are looking for a skilled System Engineer to lead the technical development of our battery energy storage projects. From concept to full energization, you will ensure seamless project execution by providing expert engineering guidance and technical oversight.

Key Responsibilities

  • System Design: Develop grid-scale battery storage designs, including site planning, single-line diagrams (SLD), power system analysis, grid code compliance, and control frameworks.

  • Procurement Support: Provide technical expertise in selecting optimal components and technologies during procurement.

  • Tendering & Due Diligence: Assist in EPC tender evaluations and conduct technical due diligence on potential partners and solutions.

  • Project Requirements & Constraints: Define technical specifications, assess site-specific constraints, and collaborate with EPC contractors on Balance of Plant (BoP) and Integrated Control Panels (ICP) design.

  • Project Oversight: Work closely with the Project Manager to track technical milestones from design through commissioning.

  • Testing Supervision: Lead Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) to ensure system compliance.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with EPC firms, grid operators, and due diligence teams to align on technical solutions and resolve challenges.

  • Project Evaluation: Assess new Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects for feasibility and performance optimization.

Qualifications & Skills

Required:

  • 3–5 years of experience in grid-scale BESS design or high-voltage (HV/EHV) utility substations.

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Power Engineering, Battery Storage, or a related field.

  • Strong understanding of lithium-ion batteries, inverters, and grid integration.

  • Knowledge of industry standards and UK Grid Code compliance.

  • Familiarity with Transmission & Distribution (T&D) networks.

  • Proficiency in DIgSILENT, ETAP, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office.

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred:

  • Experience working with Distribution Network Operators (DNOs) and managing grid connection processes.

  • Commercial awareness in system design cost-effectiveness.

  • Ability to stay updated on emerging technologies and industry advancements.
